    Confession & Absolution
  • Individual Confession and Absolution

Please meet one of your pastors in the sanctuary on Thursday evenings between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m. to hear the living Words of the Risen Christ spoken personally to you in the holy absolution.

You may prepare for confession by reading Luther's Small Catechism (LSB pages 321-330) or one of seven penitential psalms (Psalm 6, 32, 38, 51, 102, 130, 143).

If you would like to preview the service that will be used in private confession and absolution it can be found in the Lutheran Service Book (LSB) on page 292.
    Communion (Lord's Supper)
  • Our Lord's Holy Supper is celebrated in both morning Divine Services every Sunday. Individual glasses are used in the 8:00 a.m. Divine Service on the first Sunday in the month and in the 10:30 a.m. Divine Service on the second Sunday in the month. All other celebrations use the chalice.
Our Celebration of the Lord's Supper agrees with Scripture and the practice of the ancient Christian Church and so is reserved for members in good standing of congregations of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (the phrase "in good standing" means that one is not under church discipline) who agree with the doctrine and practice of our congregation. If you have questions about this practice, please contact one of our pastors; they are eager and most willing to explain this practice more thoroughly.

Visitors from sister LCMS congregations with whom our pastors are not yet acquainted should announce to one of our pastors your desire to commune before joining us at the Lord's Table.
Members should sign the registration form found in the narthex. You may prepare by reading "Christian Questions with Their Answers" for those who intend to go to the Sacrament (LSB pages 329-330).

    Catechisim
  • Catechism

    Please visit our Catechesis site

Instruction leading to confirmation is held over the course of eight plus years for children in our Christian Day School as they learn Bible stories, memorize critical Bible passages, and study and memorize Martin Luther’s Small Catechism.

Children attending public schools are instructed on Wednesday evenings. Children in the 5th and 6th grades study Bible history and begin memorizing Luther’s Small Catechism. In the 7th and 8th grades, catechesis becomes more intense as the young people are instructed more thoroughly in the doctrines and practices of the Lutheran Church.

The pastors, due to their ordination vows and the importance of the task, serve as the catechetical instructors. The Lutheran Confessions state that "our churches teach that no one should publicly teach in the Church, or administer the sacraments, without a rightly ordered call" (Augsburg Confession, Article XIV). Martin Luther’s Small Catechism is the basic textbook used for catechesis. All catechumens are expected to memorize Luther’s Catechism and supporting Bible verses.

Confirmands are examined publicly on their confirmation day which is always held on the first Sunday in May. The congregation is invited and encouraged to attend the examination.
